Bobby Fritz Snack Bar Information

Tucked along Oxford Road in Connecticut, Bobby Fritz Snack Bar has that easygoing, roadside charm that instantly feels familiar, even on a first visit. The location is simple and unpretentious, with a classic snack bar setup that draws in locals, families, and the occasional traveler looking for a quick but satisfying bite. It’s the kind of place where the smell of grilled burgers hits you before you even step up to the window.

The menu leans heavily into comfort food, and it does it well. Burgers are clearly the star here-juicy, generously sized, and cooked to that perfect balance of crispy edges and tender center. A cheeseburger with fries feels like the default order, but the variety keeps things interesting, with hot dogs, sandwiches, and fried favorites rounding things out. The portions are solid without feeling excessive, and everything comes out fresh, not like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp. On a warm day, grabbing a soft-serve ice cream or a milkshake adds to the whole experience, especially since their dessert options have that nostalgic, old-school appeal.

What stands out in many reviews is how consistent the food quality is. It’s not trying to reinvent anything, but it doesn’t cut corners either. The fries are crispy, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care, and even simple items like onion rings come out golden and satisfying. You get the sense that the kitchen sticks to what it knows and focuses on doing it right every time.

The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, more about enjoying the moment than sitting down for a long, formal meal. There’s a sense of community here-people chatting while waiting for their orders, kids enjoying ice cream, and regulars who seem to know exactly what they want before they even arrive. Service tends to be quick and friendly, which is exactly what you hope for in a spot like this. Even during busy times, the staff keeps things moving without making you feel rushed.

While it may not have the polish of a full-service restaurant, that’s part of its charm. Bobby Fritz Snack Bar feels rooted in its local setting, offering a dependable, satisfying menu that reflects the kind of place people come back to again and again.

What People's Say About Place

This place is a Valley classic that has been cherished by generations. I came here as a kid in the 70's & 80's, and it still provides great food, friendly service, and a clean old-school atmosphere. It's a breeze to find right on Route 67, there's ample parking, and it's worth a longer drive to partake of the classic New England family restaurant/diner experience. You can sit at the counter, or settle into a booth. Prices are fair, portions are good. You can indulge in several breakfast & lunch items, and the specials are worth trying too. I got the hot dog special, which includes 2 long dogs grilled up perfectly on buttered & toasted buns with choice of toppings. The fries are excellent hand-cut style, hot and crispy. They also serve dinners on certain days, and people love those dishes too. Try the Yankee pot roast! I highly recommend checking them out.

4.2 great local spot and awesome weekly car show on Wednesdays. Classic east coast diner, great shakes and sandis. Photo is chicken cordon bleu with bacon and jalapeños. 8/10

A great spot for some quick breakfast! I love the classic diner feel on the inside. My go to is always their chocolate chip pancakes or a loaded omelette. I am also a fan of their pattie melt if I am feeling more of a lunch option. They have a full menu with plenty of options (including a kids menu). Seat yourself, and after your meal being your receipt up to the front counter and pay for your bill. Super convenient.

The food is very, very good & if you enjoy a great cup of coffee, you will find it there. Rita was our waitress, Wonderful person. Everyone is so nice. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. Not overpriced. I'll be back!

Great food for good prices, excellent service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.

It’s a great place for breakfast. But as of Jan 2026 it is closed due to a fire. GMaps still says it’s open.

Eggs Benedict and crows nest are my favorite breakfast items. Order a side of hollandaise sauce and dip your bacon in it! You wouldn't regret it

Fritz’s Snack Bar…. A hidden Gem. Born and raised near here but never have been. Wow wrong move!! I had the lobster roll… So delicious, cooked to perfection!! I’ll be back when I come back to town! Heard about their breakfast!! The Eggs Benedict was a perfectly poached eggs on top of a crispy English muffin and ham, topped with a light airy buttery Holland side! Soooo goood!!!
